Atheists In Kenya Society

Atheist Holiday

Today is a public holiday in Kenya – Eid al-Adha, This holiday commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God’s command.

Kenya observes numerous religious holidays; however, there is no specific holiday allocated for atheists. The Kenyan Government should establish an Atheist Holiday to honor those Kenyans who have chosen to abandon religion.

Holidays are more than religious observances; they are cultural touchstones that bring people together, foster community, and mark the passage of time. Celebrating an atheist holiday in Kenya can help reinforce the lack of belief in God among many Kenyans.

African Nations should create traditions that resonate with the atheistic worldview—one grounded in reason, compassion, and human connection.
