The Atheists In Kenya Society is calling for an independent inquiry into the assassination of Albert Ojwang. The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) is technically moribund and too emasculated to investigate this murder effectively.
In 2024, President William Ruto appointed Ahmed Isaack Hassan as the Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority. As the President’s appointee, Ahmed Isaack cannot be impartial and objective.
A report produced by IPOA Commissioners in 2018 indicated that the agency consistently suffers from insufficient budget allocations, which have hindered the authority’s ability to perform its technical functions.
