Famous radio host Maina Kageni has decided to be cremated after he passes away.
Cremation is a way to dispose of a body by burning it or using other methods that break down the organs into small pieces weighing around 2.4kgs. After cremation, the remains, often called ashes or cremains, can be buried in a memorial site, kept by family members, or scattered in different places. Maina has stated that this wish is included in his will, and the cremation will take place at Kariokor. “I will be cremated when I die. It’s in my will. The day after I go, I will be in Kariokor. I don’t even want a requiem mass,” he shared with his co-host Mwalimu Kingang’i during a lively chat on their morning show earlier this year.Join our WhatsApp Group. His choice of cremation stems from his belief that burial is an outdated practice; he thinks it’s time to move past that tradition. He mentioned that once someone has died, they no longer care about what happens to their body.
“I’ve never understood why we take a body 500km away just to bury it. We should adopt cremation like Muslims do. Burial isn’t a viable option anymore. We need to change our mindset about that nonsense,” he said.
