We Demand Sakaja Revoke Gaucho’s appointment

The appointment of Calvince Okoth (Gaucho) to the Mama Lucy Hospital Board represents a troubling erosion of meritocracy in Kenya’s public service. Public appointments—especially in critical institutions like healthcare—must be guided by competence, integrity, and relevant experience, not populism or political considerations.

This decision undermines the spirit and letter of Chapter Six of the Constitution, which demands high standards of leadership, accountability, and ethical conduct in public office. When such principles are disregarded, public trust in institutions continues to decline.

We therefore call for the immediate revocation of this appointment and urge relevant authorities to uphold constitutional values by ensuring that all public service positions are filled through transparent, merit-based processes.
